RANDOLPH STREET MARKET: AMERICA’S LARGEST AND LIVELIEST URBAN ANTIQUES MARKET
KICKS OFF ITS 9TH SEASON MAY 26+27
Calling all hoarders, pickers and style connoisseurs to shop over 8 acres of fabulous finds!

CHICAGO, IL – (MAY, 2012) After an incredibly successful “off” season indoors, the indoor AND outdoor Randolph Street Market returns to the West Loop for it’s 9th summer season this Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27. Promising over 250 select purveyors of high quality, amazingly priced items, this vintage “Market of Markets” will serve as the perfect backdrop for a memorable garden party complete with cocktails, interactive art and DIY demonstrations The Sewing Maniac and The Urban Canopy, beauty treatments, airbrush tattoos, seasonal fancy food, relaxation vignettes, live music, and more!

This European-style market essentially takes up an entire city block while maintaining the authenticity as one of the finest and most diverse antique markets in the world, drawing comparisons to Paris’ legendary Le marche au puces de Saint-Quen. The vibe is indescribable, with the variety and the ‘you never know what you can find’ excitement that attracts the most progressive and fun clientele.

A Garden Party theme centers around two outdoor oasis creations by Chicago’s TOP designers Stacey Cohen of HGTV Design Star fame and famed artist and designer Linc Thelen, where you can enjoy summer libations and relaxation treatments. The Market will also feature garden planters designed by renowned Chicago artists hand-picked by CS Magazine including Matthew Lew, Laura Cartwright, Michael Del Piero, Jessica Williams and Jaime Lynn Henderson that will be auctioned off for Chicago House, an organization that provides housing and supportive services to HIV-affected and HIV-at risk families and individuals, who may also be impacted by poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness. The Party never ends with seasonal herb and vegetable growing demos, happy hour from 3-6 pm, delicious food and ice cream treats, and much more.

Redgi Woods from ReFINDefined will be onsite styling a nouvelle vintage Garden Party and Ytasha Womack of the Fashion News Network will be filming and covering the event! Enjoy the fashion show as Redgi gives inspirational tips on how to wear vintage and indie designs together in original and timeless way.

Chicago-based Genuine Scooters, the largest small scooter manufacturer in the world, is donating a Buddy 50 to be decorated by Chicago Artist, Francine Turk, and auctioned off at the Market for charity. The Scooter will be on display all weekend long for shoppers to drool over and bid on. Check out Genuine Scooter’s “Love Bus” and take a test drive in one of their many scooters for sale!

Additionally, Worthpoint, the industry's leading resource for all things collectible, will have Worthologists (valuation experts) on site to provide complimentary item appraisals both days from 11 am to 2 pm. Stop by the WorthPoint Valuation Station and bring your most prized possession or favorite Randolph Street Market purchase to discover its true worth.

VandM™ (Vintage and Modern) is the go-to online source for unique vintage furniture, antiques, art and jewelry from around the world and will be sponsoring and curating the May event. VandM’s top experts will be attending the Market to check out and report on the best of the best. VandM most recently announced their partnership with SHOWTIME’s critically acclaimed series, The Borgias, which will include a nationwide design event featuring high-end retail window installations in ten cities using exclusive pieces from VandM.com through April 19.

Kicking off the May Market will be an opportunity for early buying, with the doors opening at 8am. The $25 per person gate proceeds from early buying will go to directly to Market favorite, The Chicago House. All Chicago House services are provided without discrimination and are designed to guide people towards wholeness and self-sufficiency.

Chicago Care and Animal Control hosts a Dog Adoption Event onsite from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Randolph Street Market Festival invites attendees to bring four-legged friends to partake in outdoor bargain hunting free of charge as well. On extremely hot days, it is recommended that pets be left at home. For insurance purposes, no Pit Bulls or Dobermans are permitted on the premises.

This Garden Party is not to be missed! Expect 15,000 fashionistas, designophiles, antique and art collectors to flock to Chicago’s West Loop for value-priced “finds” and hours of shopping and entertainment.
